It's National My Red Thumb Day on Tuesday 12th May 2020.
We are back for our 7th year. Once again we aim to help to reduce unecessary road traffic casualties by encouraging as many people as possible to break the habit and stop being distracted by mobile phones whilst driving. Not only does driving safely protect the driver, passengers and other road users, it also supports our 999 services and the NHS by preventing road traffic collisions.
Bigger and better
Every year, on MyRedThumb Day, we have an amazing response with a huge number of people showing support for our cause. In the past we have received communications from all over the country, and even from other parts of the world, from people who are keen to pledge their support to make sure that we send a clear message that mobile phones and driving are not a good combination!
Thumb Selfie anyone?
This year we still want as many people as possible to paint their thumb red (or any other colour for that matter) to help spread the message 'using a mobile phone when driving is bad news for everyone at any time'. If you need some 'Thumb-selfie' inspiration please check out our gallery with some of the images we received from around the UK and beyond. Remember to observe and act in accordance with current Government guidelines at all times though.
Please share pictures of your decorated thumb selfies to our social media channels #MyRedThumb.
